Acupuncture for Arthritis
Acupuncture is an important branch of Oriental Medicine that has been practiced for a very long time. Acupuncture is based on the concept that energy (Chi) circulates to each cell in the body through a series of fourteen major channels called meridians. When the flow of energy is disrupted - blocked, misdirected, slowed, unbalanced - the body will be out of balance and will likely to experience ill health including pain and/or dysfunction. The practice of acupuncture and acupreasure are designed to return the free flow of chi throughout the body. In appropriate situations including children laser lights are used in place of the the acupuncture needles. Doctor makes the determination after meeting and evaluating the client.
Acupuncture is gaining recognition in the broader medical community for it's ability to provide symptom relief when other treatments have not provided adequate relief. Dangers and side effects are generally lower from acupuncture than pharmacological and surgical alternatives. The details will vary by patient and alternative considered.
Arthritis certainly fits the bill for needing symptom relief. Acupuncture has proven effective in providing the symptom relief patients are looking for.
Acupuncture is only one part of Dr. Gantt's practice. He uses it extensively but not exclusively. Often he includes it for immediate symptom relief and other incorporates other moralities to remove the underlying causes of the the symptoms. Doctor reviews each patient and each circumstance individually.
The Dr. Gantt will use your patient history and symptoms to determine where the blockage in the Chi is. Dr. Gantt will then use very small acupuncture needles placed at specific points in the body to release excess energy, eliminate blockages and bring back the smooth even flow of Chi. Following placement of the needles, a short period (generally 10 to 20 minutes) of quiet time is allowed with the needles in place giving them time to work.
For many of us in America, acupuncture is new and the concepts quite different from our past experience with medicine. Most patients exploring acupuncture and other alternative treatments come because more traditional treatments didn't work for them or there were simply none available.
Dr. Gantt has incorporated Acupuncture and other innovative treatments in his Sacramento practice for many years and has testimonials and thank you notes from many clients in his office that can help you to see the range of success others have found and better evaluate how acupuncture may benefit you.
Acupuncture
"My lower and mid back were extremely tense and sore like I had been really bruised. I found it very difficult to move my head to the left and right sides and it was also really hard to bend down and pick things up and I was constantly in pain every day.
(with acupuncture) it was improved. The stiffness has loosened up. I am able to perform my normal daily activities Acupuncture has been a blessing for me and ever since my treatment I have not been suffering from the pain everyday any more! Thank you."
